How Slippery Elm Bark saved my Life!

I remember when I first disembarked off of the plane at Miami International airport, the humidity was so high for a few moments I struggled breathing. But after about 30 minutes or so I became adjusted to the new sweat-inducing environment that became my new home.

I was looking forward to the beautiful beaches, bikini-clad women, and warm waters., but what I wasn’t expecting was my new diet of American food to make me incredibly sick. I still remember the meal that triggered my illness, it was some kind of stir-fried tofu with vegetables and rice.

These were my symptoms

  • weight gain
  • acid reflux
  • heartburn
  • slow digestion
  • diarrhea
  • periodic fevers
  • lethargic
  • fatigue
  • poor concentration
  • bloating

I kinda just thought maybe the symptoms would go away on their own accord until I couldn’t take it anymore. I ended up paying $100.00 to see a physician in the early ’90s. After I told the doctor all of my symptoms she wrote me a prescription for an antacid, which only addressed one of my many symptoms.

How I Healed Myself

The woman who I was living with at the time was vegetarian and a naturopath, she lent me a book called “Back to Eden by Jethro Kloss”‘, and told me to find my cure in it.

This book saved my life.

I looked up my symptoms within the book and it lead me to believe I had a toxic colon. I could have also had IBS or inflammatory bowel disease as the symptoms are similar, but it was irrelevant because the book recommended slippery elm for all three conditions.

What are Slippery Elms Properties?

  • potent source of antioxidants but also contains a host of minerals, such as magnesium, iron, calcium, potassium, as well as vitamin C and B vitamins
  • relieve symptoms of digestive issues, from heartburn and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), to irritable bowel diseases, such as Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, IBS, and diverticulitis
  • a demulcent, meaning it has the capacity to coat mucus membranes in the esophagus, stomach, and intestines
  • can also be used for upper respiratory issues like cough, sore throat, laryngitis, and tonsillitis
  • sometimes used as an alternative treatment for urinary tract and bladder infections can calm the irritation and inflammation brought on by bladder infection, UTIs, and Cystitis.

I went to a now non-existent health food store and bought about 2 ounces of self-serve slippery elm bark. When I arrived home I boiled some water as the book directed poured about a cup of water with 1 tablespoon of slippery elm back, stirred it in until it became thick then I drank it on an empty stomach.

Incredibly I woke up the next day with absolutely no symptoms, I felt like a brand new being. It was hard to believe that something so cheap, readily available, and easy to use could have erased months of illness literally overnight.

You can get my recommended brand of slippery elm that I use myself periodically here on Amazon.com.

But if you have candida overgrowth, heavy metals, and parasites which can cause many of the same symptoms but worse you need to use Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth, which you can buy here in a 12oz bag or here for a 1lb bag on my website. See my article “Everything you need to know about Diatomaceous Earth”.
