How I cured myself of Intertrigo with Diatomaceous Earth

by Sean Martu

There’s nothing more embarrassing than having a putrid odor emanating from your body, especially if it’s from the underarms and you are physically active in fitness centers.

Well, this happened to me and I had no idea what to do. I remember when I was at the gym when I first noticed the smell, I didn’t think much of it even though it didn’t smell like typical underarm odor. But eventually, the smell started to catch my attention when the odor progressively became more intolerable.

I tried vigorously scrubbing my armpits in the shower both in the morning and evening, but to no avail, the smell wasn’t dissipating the least. I knew something was seriously wrong when the intolerable smell would pop-up even with the slightest perspiration. Then it got worse, I developed this rash under my armpits, and the rash would become inflamed when I would perspire.

Now it was really affecting my life negatively, because not only was a stinker at the gym, but I couldn’t do exercises requiring arm movement because any type of upper arm movement caused the rash to become inflamed.

After doing some online research and comparing my symptoms with different conditions I narrowed it down to Intertrigo.

What is Intertrigo?

Intertrigo is a type of rash that appears in the folds of skin. It is a very common skin rash that can crop up throughout life. The most common areas affected include larger skin-fold areas such as:

  • Armpits
  • Beneath the breasts
  • Genital area
  • Abdomen

Symptoms of Intertrigo can be a red or reddish-brown rash, itchy, raw, or oozing skin, foul odor, or cracked and crusty skin.

  • between toes and fingers
  • In armpits
  • In the inner thighs
  • In the groin and at the scrotum
  • On the underside of your breasts or belly
  • In the crease of your neck
  • Between the buttocks

Sweat and urine can contribute to the skin condition.

It’s also often accompanied by these infections:

  • Yeast
  • Other types of fungus
  • Bacteria

Other risk factors for developing Intertrigo:

  • obesity
  • diabetes
  • Having a splint, brace, or artificial limb
  • high heat and humidity

The three things that were screaming to me were the rash, the putrid smell, and the fact that I live in South Florida and it’s been extremely humid this summer.

Once I came to the conclusion that it must have been some ingrained bacteria or yeast I immediately turned to Diatomaceous Earth.

So what did I do?

Being that food Grade Diatomaceous Earth will internally rid the body of bacteria, viruses, and fungi/yeast, I surmised that applying it on my underarms would possibly rid me of this condition. Diatomaceous Earth does this by being superbly microscopically abrasive, and by attracting & entrapping positively charged microbes in its negatively charged cylinders. See my article “Everything you need to know about Diatomaceous Earth“.

At first, I tried dry rubbing the Diatomaceous Earth on my underarms before I went to bed, and then washing it off when I awoke in the mourning. This seemed to help for a while, but it didn’t rid me of the condition.

Next, I tried Diatomaceous earth again but this time I and mixed it with water to create a thick paste that was still somewhat fluid. While I was in the shower, I would vigorously scrub my underarms with the mixture then wash it off. I did this for a few days then experimented by going to the gym to see if that horrid smell or the rash would return, and Thank God it didn’t.

Diatomaceous Earth is an incredible health-benefiting supplement for people and pets, I suggest reading all my articles on it and do your own research, it’s something that will change your health and your life.

You can purchase Fresh Water Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth on my website in a 12oz bag or 1lb bag.
