Sea moss, chondrus crispus, is a type of seaweed that is incredibly healthy for human usage, and is one of the most powerful superfoods in the ocean. It has been used for centuries and possibly longer in traditional medicine, and more recently it has been studied for its potential to treat cancer, diabetes, and other diseases. Sea moss is also high in nutrients, particularly minerals, including protein, vitamins, and antioxidants.

How to Prepare Sea Moss Gel

Wash the sea moss from debris in spring water. Then soak your soaked sea moss in spring water for a few hours or overnight, when it’s ready you’ll notice it dramatically increased in size due to water absorption. Then remove the sea moss from the liquid, and transfer it to a clean, dry plate. If the water has lots of debris in it or is cloudy, discard the water and use fresh spring to make your sea moss gel.

  • Add the sea moss to a high-powered blender along with the water. Use 1 cup of water to start and add more depending on the consistency you would like your gel.
  • Blend until it is smooth, about 1-3 minutes. Transfer the Sea Moss into an airtight container/mason jar, and refrigerate. The sea moss gel will thicken in the fridge after 2 hours.
